Keith Flint was found dead today, 04.03.2019 at his home in Essex.
Rest of the band released a statement, saying: “It is with deepest shock and sadness that we can confirm the death of our brother and best friend Keith Flint. A true pioneer, innovator and legend. He will be forever missed. We thank you for respecting the privacy of all concerned at this time.”
Liam Howlett who put together the band in 1990 also wrote on Instagram: “I can’t believe I’m saying this but our brother Keith took his own life over the weekend. I’m shell shocked, fuckin angry, confused and heart broken …. r.i.p brother Liam”.
A police spokesman from Essex confirmed the death and said: “We attended and, sadly, a 49-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed. The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
This news comes as a big shock to me, as The Prodigy was the first electronica band I felt in love with. I worshiped them my entire teenage years and collected their entire VHS and cassette collection back in the day.
Rest in peace Keith, you will be missed.
