Wampler Moxie overdrive pedal

Wampler have released their latest pedal, Moxie, an overdrive pedal based on an Ibanez TS10 Tube Screamer. The original Tube Screamer is one of the guitar pedal world’s most emulated circuit designs of all time, with many companies opting to recreate the TS808 and TS9 variants of the classic pedal. The TS10 however, has always been a favourite of Wampler founder and CEO Brian Wampler, with the Moxie representing his “twisted take” on the vintage circuit.

Wampler say that the pedal remains true to the sound of the original, and is powered by the classic 4558 chip, but some features have been added to increase the versatility and range of tones on offer. A ‘Voice’ switch boosts both the high and low-end frequency response of the pedal to help counteract the prominent mid-range bump present in the original pedal. A second switch labelled ‘Fat’ introduces MOSFET clipping and introduces a significant amount of additional gain.

Aside from the new switches, the pedal’s simple front panel features just the expected Volume, Gain, and Tone controls, and a single foot-switch to engage or bypass the effect. The device will accept 9-18V power, and draws 11mA at 9V, and 16mA at 18V.

Moxie is available now, priced at $149.97. More information is available on the Wampler website.
